About AISK

Engineering discipline applied to better project delivery.

AISK is a multidisciplinary construction and engineering consultancy built around a simple principle: technically sound decisions, clear responsibilities and disciplined delivery produce better project outcomes.

From engineering discipline to a wider consultancy

Adeel Iqbal and Sakib Al-Rashid came into retrofit from civil engineering, infrastructure and construction backgrounds shaped by defined requirements, design review, risk management, progressive assurance, change control and clear technical responsibility.

Moving deeper into retrofit exposed many of the same project risks being managed with far less structure. Assessment information did not always reflect site conditions. Designs could progress without enough challenge. Responsibilities between assessors, designers, coordinators and installers were not always clear. Technical issues were sometimes discovered only when work reached site or final coordination.

AISK was created to apply the right level of engineering discipline to those problems without importing unnecessary bureaucracy. As the business developed, the same capabilities proved relevant beyond retrofit. Programme delivery, technical assurance, design coordination, Building Physics, constructability and interface management are wider built environment disciplines. Retrofit remains an important specialism, but it does not define the whole consultancy.

Advanced Innovation & Sustainable Knowledge

AdvancedDefine the requirement properly, test assumptions and develop solutions that remain workable under real project conditions.
InnovationApply useful lessons from civil engineering, infrastructure, quality assurance and project delivery where they improve a different built environment challenge.
SustainableConsider whole life performance, maintainability, occupants and the longer term effect of technical decisions.
KnowledgeBase professional advice on demonstrable competence, relevant experience and continued learning. Where further investigation or specialist input is needed, say so clearly.

An expert led consultancy

AISK is led directly by its directors and supported by trusted Associates where a commission requires additional specialist capability.

The consultancy combines direct senior involvement with appropriately competent support while maintaining clear leadership, responsibilities and professional accountability.

Leadership

Civil engineering, construction and retrofit experience brought together.

The experience of the people leading the work matters. These profiles show the professional background carried into AISK, while distinguishing historic director experience from commissions delivered through AISK.

Sakib Al-Rashid IEng

Director · Incorporated Engineer · Civil Engineer

Sakib is an Incorporated Engineer and civil engineer with extensive experience across rail infrastructure, major construction, highways, stations and domestic retrofit.

His background spans client side project management, design management, project engineering and live construction delivery. He has worked across complex multidisciplinary environments where successful delivery depends on the coordination of client requirements, engineering design, constructability, programme, assurance and stakeholder interfaces.

Before co-founding AISK, Sakib worked across major UK infrastructure programmes including Crossrail, the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade, the M1 Smart Motorway programme and major railway station development schemes. His experience includes multidisciplinary design coordination, requirements management, constructability, progressive assurance, NEC contract processes, programme governance, procurement and interfaces between clients, designers, contractors, Network Rail and specialist disciplines.

Within retrofit, Sakib contributes to Retrofit Coordination, technical review, programme governance and multidisciplinary coordination across assessment, design and installation. His focus is on identifying technical and information risks early, establishing clear ownership and ensuring decisions are supported by appropriate evidence before they become delivery problems.

Selected experience

  • Client side project management on major rail station development
  • Design management and progressive assurance in the Network Rail PACE environment
  • Bank Station Capacity Upgrade
  • M1 Smart Motorway programme
  • Crossrail / Elizabeth Line infrastructure
  • Rail business case and development work
  • Domestic retrofit coordination and technical assurance

Qualifications

  • IEng · Incorporated Engineer

Capability beyond the core team

Alongside the directors, AISK works with professionals and Associates across project management, engineering, retrofit, technical design and specialist disciplines.

People are selected according to the scope, competence and responsibilities required for each appointment. This allows AISK to assemble additional capacity and specialist expertise around the needs of each commission while retaining clear senior oversight.

Where Associates form part of an AISK appointment, their role, reporting arrangements and professional responsibilities are defined from the outset.

Professional credentials

Credentials stated clearly, evidence retained appropriately.

Professional memberships and qualifications are shown against AISK's directors. Where other professionals or Associates form part of a commission, relevant competence can be evidenced through the appropriate procurement or appointment process.
