Our view of Retrofit Coordination
Coordinate the retrofit, not only the paperwork.
A Retrofit Coordinator should provide active technical and programme oversight throughout delivery. The role should look ahead, identify risk before it reaches site, challenge conflicting information and keep assessment, design and installation connected.
Where the same problem is appearing across multiple properties, repeatedly correcting individual files is not enough. The programme needs to understand why the issue is recurring, who owns the action and what should change in the wider process.
Assessment and design information
Existing buildings do not always match the information captured at one point in time. Assessment notes, photographs, dimensions, site conditions and later installation evidence can conflict.
AISK reviews whether the information available is sufficient for the decision being made. Where it is not, we seek clarification, further evidence or investigation rather than allowing an unsupported assumption to become part of the design.
Building performance within retrofit
Fabric improvements change the way heat, air and moisture move through a dwelling. Where the risk justifies it, AISK can draw directly on Building Physics capability including fRSI, thermal bridge and psi value assessment, WUFI modelling, U values and condensation or moisture risk review.
Not every property needs advanced modelling. The level of analysis should reflect the construction, proposed intervention and consequence of getting the decision wrong.
Older and traditional buildings
Traditional construction should not be forced into modern building assumptions. Existing moisture movement, ventilation, material permeability, exposure and retained historic elements can materially change the appropriate retrofit strategy.
AISK's competence in energy efficiency for older and traditional buildings informs our coordination and technical review. Where heritage or specialist conservation input is required, we identify that requirement rather than extending our scope beyond competence.
Programme delivery
Multi property programmes need enough consistency to operate efficiently without losing the ability to respond to genuine property specific conditions. AISK can support shared trackers, action ownership, technical review routes, property exceptions, first installation learning and multidisciplinary coordination so recurring issues become visible at programme level.
