CAD & Technical Design

Clear technical information that can be understood, reviewed and built from.

AISK develops 2D drawings and technical information for feasibility, planning, coordination, technical submissions and construction delivery.

Technical design

As a project moves towards construction, information needs to explain build ups, dimensions, junctions, interfaces, material transitions and specialist requirements clearly enough to reduce interpretation on site.

AISK accepts technical design responsibility where it falls within the agreed scope and competence. Specialist engineering design remains with appropriately competent specialists, and proprietary manufacturer system design remains with the relevant manufacturer or system designer.

Retrofit and technical submissions

Existing buildings rarely match a perfect standard detail. AISK develops and reviews property specific information where openings, roof lines, retained elements, services or changes in insulation continuity require more considered technical detailing.

Drawings can also support manufacturer review, warranty or certification submissions, client assurance and remedial proposals.

Building Physics informed design

Where a drawing exposes a thermal or moisture question that cannot be answered visually, the detail can be connected directly to AISK's Building Physics capability. This is particularly useful at constrained retrofit junctions where the general wall specification does not represent the local condition.

Current scope

AISK's current CAD service is focused on 2D drawing and technical design, including planning, construction detailing, retrofit and technical submission support.

Where structural input is required, specialist structural engineering can be coordinated as part of the wider project.

Relevant experience

Experience connected to the service.

Full case studies sit within Experience. These short examples show how the capability has been applied in practice.

EWI drawing pack redesign and technical submission

A contractor's legacy EWI drawing library was reviewed and rebuilt around current project and system requirements. The work included technical coordination of junctions, controlled revisions and information intended for manufacturer and warranty review.

fRSI calculation and Construction Detail Notes

Where a junction could not be justified from a drawing alone, two dimensional thermal modelling and a property specific Construction Detail Note were used together so the design team received an auditable technical decision tool rather than a numerical result in isolation.

Remedial technical proposal packs

Audit findings were developed into clearer remedial routes, including investigation requirements, physical remediation options, alternative technical solutions and supporting details where the original defect description was not sufficient to price or construct.
